Gibson Custom 1964 Trini Lopez Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar – Pelham Blue Finishes

From its chunky ’64-profile neck to its unique trapeze tailpiece, the Gibson Custom 1964 Trini Lopez Standard Reissue VOS delivers the authentic tone, looks, and feel of Trini’s original (and highly collectible) signature guitar. In the design of this amazing semi-hollowbody electric guitar, Gibson’s elite Custom Shop luthiers exhaustively poured through scans and blueprints of the coveted originals to give you an instrument, as a ’60s Gibson advert stated, “… as exciting as the young performer who helped create it.” A laminated Maple body with elongated diamond sound holes and a satin ebony nitro finish, paired with a Mahogany set neck rocking a non-reverse Firebird headstock design give this axe serious stage and studio cred, while its dual Custombucker pickups serve up a veritable smorgasbord of tone.

Custombuckers deliver legendary tone

The Custom Shop Custombucker pickups in the 1964 Trini Lopez Standard Reissue VOS are catnip for tube amplifiers. Each with its own volume and tone controls, these unpotted pickups will let you nail warm, full-bodied jazz licks as easily as you can dial in searing rock tones. The Alnico III magnets give you classic hollowbody-style tones for everything from chimey cleans to heavy overdrive. And handwired with CTS audio taper pots and paper-in-oil capacitors, you’ll have nearly endless tone-shaping control at your fingertips. Guitarists at Sweetwater love these pickups. So will you.

Handcrafted by Gibson’s elite luthiers

Meticulously handcrafted by Gibson’s elite Custom Shop luthiers, the 1964 Trini Lopez Standard Reissue VOS — like every Gibson Custom guitar — receives an ultra-precise Plek Pro setup, which optimizes the fretboard and nut for incredibly accurate intonation and a “just right” feel. And fine details like the solid rosewood fingerboard and the 17-degree headstock angle not only add to the amazing tone and feel of this guitar, they remain true to the Gibson’s illustrious ES Series legacy. The vintage-style nitrocellulose lacquer finish is significantly thinner than today’s polyurethane finishes, allowing the guitar to “breathe.” Nitro finishes not only look amazing; they also enhance the instrument’s tonal qualities. This guitar has the look (and feel) of a lovingly cared-for classic — one that will only improve with age.

Vintage Original Sheen finish, for the look and feel of a classic

Gibson Custom’s Vintage Original Sheen finish option comes standard on Custom Shop Historic Reissue models. The VOS finish package includes lightly aged parts that imparts an authentic vintage patina. The nitrocellulose finished it buffed to a light matte appearance, giving a look and feel of a guitar that has been lovingly played and cared for over the years.
