The Etherwave Theremin from Moog is a classic analog theremin synthesizer in a timelessly beautiful real wood cabinet. The only electronic musical instrument that can be played without contact, the instrument was first introduced in the USA in 1920 by the Russian Lev Termen (aka Leon Theremin) and looks back on a history of 100 years. In the 1960s, synthesizer pioneer Bob Moog took up this special instrument and continued to develop it.

True experts play a theremin as artfully and tonally to the point as a violin, those who love whale song and settings of old science fiction and scary movies will look at the instrument from the experimental angle.

Proven components and new functions
The model presented here is the improved reissue of the classic. Newly added is a mute switch, which mutes the output of the Theremin. This function can also be triggered by an optionally available foot switch. Three control voltage outputs with 3.5mm jack for the two antennas and gate are installed as standard. This allows to control a Eurorack modular system with the Etherwave Theremin. The analog oscillator can be smoothly crossfaded from sine to triangle and is discreetly processed in sound quality with a resonance-free lowpass filter. The round antenna controls the volume of the internal VCA, the protruding antenna controls the pitch of the oscillator.
